The meeting was called to order.
Present were Steve Hill, Director of Public Works; Jim Bodenhamer, Susan Stockton, and Paige Evans, Committee members.
The Street Report for October was reviewed. Steve reported the Access Road to the Community Center had a total cost through October 31 of $271,263.76; the Community Center has a total cost of $1,593,959.45. In May, the Street Department had been reimbursed $283,144.09 for costs incurred through December 31, 2023. This will bring the total amount through October 31, invoiced to the General/Parks $1,310,815.36. He added, they will be invoiced for work done November and December at the end of December.
The rebuild project at Redbud and Windbrook is going well. Steve reported this is a very big job, with a lot of utilities and lots of rock to be hammered. He said it is going to be a big inconvenience for the residents and hopes they will work with our department throughout the project.
The Turnage Trail and Deer Path rebuild currently has a cost of $281,512.22. They are finishing up the landscaping and this project should be completed in two to three weeks.
Overlays have been completed at a cost of $448,325.51. Steve and the Committee compared this year's amount with the past two years that had been contracted out.
Maintenance for the month of October totaled $28,515.32. This included trimming limbs, cleaning creeks at the bridges, trimming along sidewalks and curbs, sign maintenance, etc.
The Budget Summary was reviewed and there was discussion about the Street Sign line item. Paige asked if this money was going to be transferred back into the Road Construction line. The Committee discussed at length the Wayfinding System for the sign program.
Susan thanked Steve for the new stop signs at 1st Street and Leatherwood. This location is now a 4 way stop.
Paige reported that she had received a message from a gentleman with concerns about a recent hit and run on Highway 62. He told her, from Arkansas State University to the area of Casey's and Harps it was well lit, but after Cardinal Drive, it is very dark along that area of highway to Commerce Drive. He asked if there was something we could do to light up along that stretch of highway. Steve told the committee that he will look into that and had received a similar request for Arkansas Avenue from North College Street to Commerce Drive.
After some discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 12:56p.m.
